John Thirteen is a for-profit company. Membership, when billing is turned on, is a subscription payment to the company. It is not a donation and it is not tax-deductible.

What members offer one another through the platform is a gift. This version does not process payments between members. A job listing may describe pay that an employer handles off the platform. John Thirteen does not take a cut of that pay and does not hold it.

Housing and jobs

Housing listings are written to comply with the Fair Housing Act. They must not state a preference, limitation, or discrimination based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, or familial status. Job listings must not state a preference based on religion or any other protected class.

Faith is affirmed once, at membership. Listing forms for housing and jobs have no religion field and no protected-class field. Search does not filter on faith. Hosts attest to this before a housing post goes live.

Your posts

Members are responsible for what they post. John Thirteen provides the place where listings, messages, and community notes appear. The company does not endorse a particular listing. Reports go to a moderation queue. This paragraph is a plain-language placeholder for the platform's role as a host of member content, including the ideas people associate with Section 230. It is not a legal conclusion.
